How did we start up? Well, by accident I guess. In 1993 I retired from the Australian Regular Army after serving 20 years in infantry. The outdoors was an obvious favourite place that I chose to visit on a regular basis so on retirement I went seeking a swag (outdoor canvas sleeping compartment).
To my dismay I could not find a swag that suited my height (6'4) and my size so I was frustrated at not having a convenient sleeping compartment. My wife suggested I make my own so I set about finding features on current swags that I liked and then designed one to suit myself.
That's how it started. My friends wanted one etc etc, and then my Dads' best friend who was in the outdoor retail industry, had a look at one, made some suggestions and so the story goes.
In 1994 we started our business and expanded throughout Australia over the next 12 years. We then decided to expand and sent our manufacturing offshore so that we could offer a sound product at a very competitive price.
So as to maintain the Aussie theme we renamed ourselves Bushwakka Australia for our overseas customers. We are established in the USA with a distribution warehouse in Aurora IL that can provide delivery in 4 days to North America.
As manufacturers we are seeking wholesalers for distribution of our products not only in the US but for world wide markets. We can offer limited stock for trial purposes and we have the manufacturing capacity for large bulk orders. We have a very reputable world wide freight carrier that will deliver in a timely fashion.
